Labour and Employment Law

LETTE lawyers have extensive experience in the many aspects of labour and employment law and work closely with owners and managers of businesses of all sizes to fully understand their needs and to develop strategies designed to allow them to manage their workplace and human resources efficiently and effectively. Our services include:

  • assisting in the negotiation and preparation of employment contracts containing non-competition, confidentiality, termination, golden handshake, golden parachute and other clauses

  • advising on issues relating to stock options, SERPS, phantom stock plans and similar benefit arrangements often found in sophisticated employment contracts and the ramifications of such arrangements under the tax, employment and social security laws of the applicable jurisdiction

  • advising on matters relating to termination of employment, including wrongful dismissal claims

  • assisting clients with the preparation of employment policies and manuals, advising clients generally on labour and employment practices and related regulatory issues

  • arranging and speaking at clients' human resource seminars on subjects relating to employment practices, workplace safety and other regulatory issues

  • assisting clients with the investigation and resolution of human rights claims and harassment disputes

  • representing employers or advising on union certifications and de-certifications, grievances, disciplinary measures, actual and constructive dismissals, plant closures, collective agreement negotiations, strikes and lock-outs and sales of businesses

  • appearing on behalf of clients in all types of employment-related disputes and litigation, including human rights, harassment and wrongful dismissal claims
