Francois Crépeau is a Professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Montréal, where he has been teaching International Law since 2001. He is director of the Revue québécoise de droit international (RQDI). From 1990 to 2001, he was a Professor of Law at the Faculty of Political Science and Law of the University of Québec at Montréal (UQAM), where he taught Constitutional Law and International Law, both at undergraduate and graduate level, and where he also founded and directed the Centre d'études sur le droit international et la mondialisation (CEDIM) (Centre for Studies in International Law and Globalization).

Holder of a doctorate degree from the University of Paris 1, he is vice-president of the Canadian Human Rights Foundation. He is Chair of the Programme Committee for the 8th biennial Conference of the International Association of the Study of Forced Migrations, which was held in Chiang Mai (Thailand) in January, 2003. He is also director of the "Globalization and International Law" collection published by Bruylant (Belgium).

He has been a guest professor and lecturer at numerous institutions, including: York University (Toronto), Université Catholique de Louvain (Belgium), Oxford University (UK), Université d’Auvergne - Clermont 1 (France), Fondazione Internazionale Lelio Basso (Italy), Fondation nationale des sciences politiques (France), Institut international des droits de l'homme (Strasbourg), Université de Paris II.

His research focuses on international refugee and migration law, as well as on international law and globalization. He has obtained several research grants over the past ten years and has given numerous conferences on these issues. His most recent publications include:
